“Don’t get old”

I was talking to my daughter Sarah last night (to clarify step daughter but we don’t use those labels in our clan) . We were talking about the current health of a couple of the family and I caught myself saying “don’t get old” . Such an off the cuff saying . I was annoyed with myself for saying such a thing . Both our “kids” would have loved to have grown old .

“Don’t get old” is a statement that won’t be coming out of my mouth again .

My Village

The saying “it takes a village to raise a child ” comes to mind but today I have my own spin on it .

My Village is also keeping me up right .

Thankyou to everyone who has messaged me thus far today and on other days – they seem to show up when I need them most xx

As always my wish is that we as a village we help look after our community and spread the word of Donate Life .

Today when your posting your Mother’s Day wishes please copy and paste the donate life registration page to the bottom of it .

Do it for Shelbi and Isaack xx

Mother’s Day

Everyone asks me how I am going to manage on Mother’s Day . Truth is I will manage the same as every other day .

I manage for the 4 children that are still with us . My two beautiful grandchildren . My loving patient understanding husband .My wonderful circle of sisters of choice . My very empathetic work place my extended family and Shelbs wonderful friends .

I’m as strong as I will ever be and I know that Shelbs and Isaack would want us to push on with the new normal.

Is it hard . Unbearably so . Is it achievable- yes but it requires lots of work focus and dedication .

On this Mother’s Day if you haven’t yet registered for organ donation and have been thinking about it why not register then post it as a dedication to your Mum . If you are registered encourage and support others to do it .

Words

I haven’t posted as frequently lately . In truth I have been spending a little less time on social media .

I haven’t had the best of weeks . Always tired . Not because of the kids – I would hate to think they were watching and feeling in anyway responsible – because of the bloody awful menopause that has been thrown at me full pelt because I had breast cancer in 2016 .

Over the next 2 months I am going to take stock and work our how to keep moving forward everyday . I love my job and have wonderful friends and family. I just need to feel physically and mentally well .

My advocacy for Donate Life keeps me going . This page keeps me focused . Please share my posts if you like them . Help spread the word in regards to registering for organ donation .

Her second home

Anyone who knew Shelb knew that this little shack was her second home . Her pride and joy . Somewhere she loved to bring her friends . Not to show off but to share it.

I am so thankful that was the case as I can pack up and come down here and still feel her presence .

So many beautiful memories for all of us.

At some stage the plan is to host an awareness day . I am thinking a 24 hr paddle a- thon sometime in the summer months . We will use it to remember two special family members and also raise awareness for Donate life .

If your not registered and want to be a organ donor please stop putting it off and jump on line and register xx

She made her mark

I have been busting to share this with everyone for a while now but I wanted it launched before I did .

Shelbis wonderful workplace – Berriedale and Benjafield Childcare Centres are wearing the attached shirt every Thursday . Their casual Thursday . They will make gold coin donations and take donations from any of the parents who would like to contribute and will be raising awareness in regards to how to register to be an Organ donor .

I will share more photos when they are available but to say I am proud and also humbled is an understatement. Shelb and Isaack would be smiling broadly and be so happy that out of such a tragedy there is something wonderful occurring.

Thank you to Kate and her wonderful teams . Shelb had one of the best work families anyone could ask for xx

Thank you to Emily ( one of Shelbs children) for the beautiful drawing of Shelb xx

So many to chose from

Spent the afternoon picking photos of you for the frames . So many beautiful photos of you and Rosie to go through . So pleased you loved a selfie and posted them regularly. Rosie will be so pleased with them.

Also spent the morning with a family member who gave me a beautiful coffee mug with a Kookaburra on it .

She also asked for details of how to register with Donate Life .

We are going to make a difference on your behalf one registration at a time xx

Good Company

I’ve been watching Riverdale – something Shelb and I were going to watch when we finished originals . I feel close to her when I’m watching this . Luke Perry plays a dad and knowing he is no longer with us is a little eerie. I was reading a interview post given by is on screen son .

“Luke is the kind of person who did everything he can to make whoever you are, no matter how big or small you are, feel comfortable and feel welcome,” Apa said.

So much like Shelbs “be somebody who makes everyone feel like somebody ” she will surely have found a likeminded soul in Luke .
