I was privileged to be able to speak today . It was an honour to speak about our decision.
We were lucky to hear the journeys of two donor recipients.
After the service my beautiful sister in law shouted me Shelbs favourite drink . Malibu and pineapple juice .

The weekend is the beginning of a very busy month for me and my family .
Firstly with have the memorial service for Donate Life . This is a celebration of life for the families or Donors and those who received the gift of life . I am privileged to speak at this event .
Sunday we celebrate Isaack and Shelbis life . It was his birthday yesterday
The following Friday their friends have arranged a movie night . They will screen Little Shop of Horrors the last show Shelb was part.
We will mention Donate Life at each event . The beauty of donating life is it doesn’t matter how much you have in your bank account . It isn’t a financial donation they seek .

The rememberance service is next Saturday and they have told/warned us that they will release Butterflies.

I’m working pretty closely with Donate Life at the moment . Pretty excited about a few upcoming events .
I was chatting with one of their members yesterday and they shared a story with me .
I won’t name events or clarify gender as privacy is important to some of the Donor Community but the message was just too powerful to not share .
It happened at a recent event . The elderly person wandered around the Donate Display chatting . They stayed longer than most and eventually opened up . They had recently received a gift that had helped restore their eyesight .
This allowed them to continue with one of their favourite rituals. Reading to their grandchildren.
Last night we watch Andrew Denton’s interview is the Kelly family . Such a brave inspirational family . So many “feels” for this family . So many “I’m hearing you moments ”

As some of you will know I had breast cancer in 2016 – received the news a week before our first wedding anniversary.
Investigations were early and the lump was removed but further investigation revealed I have the Braca gene and a Mastectomy is the best way to head off a repeat occurrence .
So on the 16 June I will have this procedure .
Before this I am attending the Memorial Service for Donate Life . I will speak for Shelbi and Isaack and I will be wearing my very own Donate Life polo .
On the 2nd June Isaacks friends have arranged a gathering – it’s Isaacks birthday on the 28th of May xx
The rest of the month I will be planning and communicating with families /workplaces who have been in touch in regards to supporting Donate Life week (end of July )
I’ve been told it’s unusual for family’s who donate to want to be so involved . For me it’s the natural thing to do .
SHELBI would say “be someone who makes everyone feel like some ” Doing what I do is therapeutic and I feel is making a small but positive impact on registration and donations .
I’m also sure it’s making two young souls who were taken way too soon smile xx
